Brazilian Rare Earths Limited (ASX: BRE; OTCQX: BRELY, BRETF) says in a new press release that new drilling and surface sampling at Sulista, 80 km SW of Monte Alto, confirm a district-scale, shallow, high-grade REE system. The company now characterizes Sulista as a new high-grade rare earth district with 7+ km of cumulative mineralized strike across seven corridors, underpinned by roads, power (4 km to 138 kV), and proximity to Bahia’s Camaçari industrial hub.

Rare Earth Exchanges (REEx) interviewed BRE CEO Bernardo Da Veiga (opens in a new tab), a seasoned mining executive and entrepreneur.  REEx has listed BRE as eighth on the REEx Heavy Rare Earth Element Deposit/Project Rankings due to their huge potential, but the stage remains early.

 What’s new

• Sulista East: Tabular bedrock REE body with true thickness up to 30 m over 500 m strike, open. Drill highlights include 16.6 m @ 3.9% TREO from surface (STU1482, open) and 33 m @ 3.8% TREO from 7 m (JITDD0036); spot grades to 9.6% TREO and outcrops to 10.5% TREO. New “Monte Alto-style” boulders grading 32.1% TREO were found ~500 m north.
• Sulista West (Outcrop Ridge): 5,000 m diamond program launched targeting a REE–Nb–Sc–Ta–U system beneath a strong geophysical anomaly; prior outcrops up to 20.6% TREO and drilling up to 22.4% TREO. Recent auger: 6 m @ 9.9% TREO from 14 m (STU1813) with NdPr 34,467 ppm and DyTb 1,767 ppm.
• Exploration Target (district): 12–18 Mt @ 4–6% TREO across seven corridors (conceptual; not a resource). ~70% of Sulista East holes hit mineralization; interquartile grades 3–5% TREO.

Why it matters

Brazil’s Rocha da Rocha Province is shaping up as a multi-district opportunity (BRE’s words). If Sulista’s grades/continuity hold, Bahia could become a hemisphere-leading source of magnet feed (NdPr), with dysprosium/terbium indications from Sulista West—potentially strategic for heavy-REE magnet blends.

The fineprint & status

• Not a resource: The Exploration Target is conceptual; more drilling is required to define JORC resources/reserves.
• Assays pending: 31 of 44 Sulista East core holes await assays; Sulista West’s new 5,000 m is just starting.
• Next steps: Step-outs along the >1% TREO corridor; systematic drilling of ultra-high-grade boulder field; high-res heli-mag/radiometrics.

1. Metallurgy: How does monazite/host mineralogy impact recovery, radionuclide management, and CAPEX/OPEX?
2. NdPr & HREE splits: What is the contained NdPr/Dy/Tb profile across East vs. West—and how consistent through depth/strike?
3. Scale to mine plan: How quickly can BRE convert conceptual tonnage into a JORC resource, and what mining method (regolith vs. bedrock) is most viable?
4. Permitting & ESG: What’s the timeline for Brazilian federal/state permits and community engagement, especially given potential U/Th in mineralization?
5. Processing route: On-site vs. toll/third-party cracking & separation? Offtake or strategic partner interest?
6. Funding runway: How is the 2025–26 drill, study, and test-work program financed if markets tighten?
