Highlights
- Tolga Kumova and affiliated entities raised their Meteoric Resources holdings to approximately 194.6 million shares, up from 174.6 million previously.
- Voting power declined from 7.79% to 6.74% due to dilution from Meteoric's expanding share base, not a reduction in shares held.
- Caldeira is considered one of the most significant ionic clay rare earth deposits outside China, targeting magnet rare earths for EVs, defense, and robotics.
- The filing includes no new project milestones, financing, or offtake agreements, but sustained large-scale ownership signals continued investor confidence.
- As global competition for non-Chinese rare earth supply intensifies, market watchers will monitor whether major shareholders maintain or grow exposure to Caldeira.
A newly filed substantial holder notice shows Australia-based mining investor Tolga Kumova (opens in a new tab) and associated investment entities increased their combined interest in Meteoric Resources to approximately 194.6 million shares, up from approximately 174.6 million shares previously. Despite the increase in shares held, voting power declined from 7.79% to 6.74%, reflecting dilution from Meteoric's expanding share base.
The filing indicates that part of the increase stemmed from the conversion of performance rights and internal transfers among affiliated investment vehicles, including Kitara Investments, Bilgi Investments, Sisu International, Cennet Investments, and Gondwana Investment Group. The disclosure does not establish that the additional shares were acquired through open-market purchases.
Tolga Kumova

For rare earth investors, the significance lies less in the ownership mechanics and more in the continued presence of a large shareholder as Meteoric advances the Caldeira Rare Earth Project in Brazil. Caldeira is widely regarded as one of the most significant ionic clay rare earth deposits outside China and has attracted increasing attention due to its potential to supply magnet rare earths critical to electric vehicles, robotics, defense systems, and advanced manufacturing.
The filing contains no new project updates, development milestones, financing announcements, or offtake agreements. Nevertheless, continued large-scale ownership by a sophisticated mining investor is likely to draw attention as global competition intensifies to secure non-Chinese rare earth supply chains.
REEx Take: The headline is not the decline in voting power. The more important signal is that ownership remains substantial and, in absolute share terms, increased. As capital markets remain selective toward rare earth developers, investors will continue watching whether major shareholders maintain, increase, or reduce exposure to strategically important projects such as Caldeira.
