Meteoric Resources Begins U.S. OTCQB Trading as Caldeira Rare Earth Project Courts American Capital

Aug 10, 2026

3 minute read.

Highlights

  • Meteoric Resources begins U.S. OTCQB trading August 10 under ticker METOF, improving American investor access without issuing new shares or raising capital.
  • Caldeira's PFS modeled a post-tax NPV8 of US$1.256 billion at forecast prices, but spot-price sensitivity dropped it sharply to US$109 million with an 11% IRR.
  • Key milestones ahead include the July 31, 2026 DFS, final permits, construction financing terms, and converting non-binding offtake into bankable contracted demand.
  • Caldeira targets NdPr, dysprosium, and terbium output via low-capex ionic clay extraction, positioning it within Western efforts to reduce dependence on Chinese rare earths.

Meteoric Resources Limited (ASX: MEI; OTCQB: METOF) begins U.S. OTCQB trading August 10, giving American investors easier U.S.-dollar access to the Australian developer of Brazil's Caldeira rare earth project. No new shares were issued, meaning the quotation improves market access without dilution—but does not itself raise capital or de-risk Caldeira. The timing matters. Meteoric is advancing the reported 1.5-billion-tonne Mineral Resource as Western governments seek new sources of magnet rare earths outside China. OTCQB potentially broadens the shareholder base; the investment thesis, however, still lives or dies in Brazil.

Meteoric Resources centers its market potential on the flagship Caldeira Rare Earth Project in Brazil, an ionic clay asset featuring high-grade rare earths, low capital intensity, and a simple ammonium sulphate leach extraction process that avoids traditional hard-rock crushing.

REEx Insight | A New Ticker Doesn't Build a Mine

Caldeira deserves attention, and Rare Earth Exchanges® earlier this year interviewed Andy Thompson, company Chief Financial Officer (opens in a new tab).

Meteoric's development studies envision substantial NdPr production plus meaningful dysprosium and terbium output—elements sitting near the heart of today's Western rare-earth vulnerability.

Investors always need to distinguish geological scale from commercial certainty. Meteoric describes Caldeira as “world-class” and potentially disruptive and says it is pursuing a pathway toward becoming the world's lowest-cost rare-earth producer. Those are company propositions, not demonstrated operating results. Caldeira remains pre-production but certainly promising, and that’s where the returns can be robust.

The Numbers Behind the Story

The earlier PFS estimated US$443 million development capex. Under its forecast-price scenario, it modeled a US$1.985 billion pre-tax NPV8 and 39% pre-tax IRR, falling to US$1.256 billion and 31% after tax. Importantly, under then-current spot pricing, modeled post-tax NPV8 fell dramatically to US$109 million with an 11% IRR. That sensitivity may be more important to investors than METOF itself.

The questions now: What does the July 31, 2026 DFS change? When do final permits arrive? Who finances construction, on what terms, and when does non-binding offtake become bankable contracted demand?

METOF has essentially no U.S. technical history as of yet. ASX: MEI remains the better venue for meaningful price and volume analysis, at least for now.

REEx Bottom Line: OTCQB opens America's door. Caldeira's economics, financing, and execution determine what walks through it.
