From February 18 to 19, 2025, Li Xiao, Deputy Party Secretary and General Manager of Baogang Group, led a high-level inspection of key mining operations and major project developments in the Baiyun Obo mining district, China’s largest rare earth and iron ore deposit. The visit also included a quarterly safety and fire inspection across multiple subsidiaries, including Baiyun Iron Mine, Baiyun Concentrator (Baoshan Mining), Barun Mining, Baogang Xineng, Baogang Jinshi, Ebo Smart Manufacturing, and Jitai Chemical.
During the visit, Li Xiao assessed project progress, examined critical safety measures, and reviewed risk management for hazardous sites. Particular attention was given to slope stability monitoring, green electricity direct-supply project implementation, and major accident hazard rectification reports by the company in a press release (opens in a new tab).
Li underscored the urgency of accelerating major projects as a core pillar of Baogang’s high-quality transformation strategy, emphasizing strict adherence to engineering standards, investment optimization, and interdepartmental coordination to ensure smooth project execution. Additionally, Li stressed the importance of rigorous implementation of the company’s three-year mining safety action plan (2025), which mandates:
- Stronger mine safety governance, including oversight in mining operations, construction, maintenance, and inspections.
- Assessment of seasonal safety risks and reinforced hazard prevention protocols.
- Regular high-level safety consultations with key stakeholders to enhance on-site safety accountability.
