Firepoint Energy Inc (opens in a new tab)., a Pennsylvania-based critical minerals recovery company, announced it has engaged Ardour Capital Investments, LLC (opens in a new tab) as financial advisor to support capital formation and strategic growth as the company advances its waste coal repurposing platform.
NewYork–based Ardour Capital brings more than 25 years of experience advising clean energy and climate technology companies. Under the agreement, the firm will assist Firepoint Energy with financing strategy and strategic financial initiatives as the company moves toward commercial deployment of its proprietary technology.
Firepoint Energy is developing a zero-emission plasma gasification process that converts legacy waste coal into critical minerals and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) without incineration. The company’s pilot infrastructure is nearing completion, and a formal research and industry collaboration with Penn State University has recently been established.
“As we move into a capital-intensive phase of development, Ardour Capital’s expertise in alternative energy and climate-positive technologies will be instrumental,” said Bill Smith, Chief Executive Officer of Firepoint Energy. The company’s next phase includes manufacturing plasma gasifiers for waste coal processing and identifying additional sites with significant waste coal inventories.
Firepoint believes its technology could help address U.S. supply vulnerabilities in critical minerals, which the Department of Defense has identified as a strategic national security priority. Can this approach help lead to critical mineral resilience in America?
