About Rare Earth Salts
Rare Earth Salts Separations and Refining LLC is a privately held U.S. rare earth processing company founded in 2012 and headquartered in Beatrice, Nebraska, where it operates a roughly 50,000-square-foot commercial demonstration plant, laboratory and research facility. The company has developed a proprietary electrochemical process for separating and purifying individual rare earth oxides that it positions as a lower-cost, more environmentally friendly alternative to conventional solvent extraction, capable of processing a broad range of rare earth concentrates and recycled feedstocks. Rare Earth Salts recovers rare earth elements from secondary sources, including extracting terbium and other elements from discarded fluorescent lighting phosphors, as well as from mining and industrial waste streams. The company received a U.S. Department of Defense award of approximately US$4.22 million to develop domestic terbium oxide production for critical defense technologies, supporting U.S. efforts to reduce dependence on Chinese rare earth supply.
