Quantum Minería

Quantum Minería S.L. is a privately held Spanish mineral exploration company based in Madrid. It describes itself as founded in 2011 with 100% Spanish capital. Its rare-earth project has been Matamulas, a gray-monazite deposit in the Campo de Montiel area of Ciudad Real, in the municipalities of Torrenueva and Torre de Juan Abad. The 2017 project design called for about 3,916 metric tons a year of saleable concentrate (70% monazite). According to its website, since November 2022 the company has devoted its resources to the Neodimio research project, also on gray monazite in Campo de Montiel.

The Castilla-La Mancha environmental authority issued an unfavorable environmental impact declaration for Matamulas in October 2017, citing Natura 2000 impacts and unproven water supply. The regional high court dismissed Quantum Minería’s appeal in December 2020, according to EFE, and Quantum told El Español in February 2026 that its mining rights at Matamulas have lapsed.
