About Mineração Taboca

Mineração Taboca S.A. is a Brazilian tin mining and metallurgy company founded in 1969 that operates the Pitinga mine in Amazonas State and the Pirapora smelter. Beyond tin, Pitinga produces niobium and tantalum (columbite-tantalite) ferroalloys and hosts unexploited rare earth element, hafnium, zircon and cryolite potential, and the operation has its own hydroelectric power supply. Taboca was long a subsidiary of Peru’s Minsur S.A. Minsur signed an agreement on November 26, 2024, to sell Taboca to China Nonferrous Trade, and the sale was reported completed in April 2025, transferring control of the Pitinga mine and Pirapora smelter to Chinese ownership.
