The Changsha Research Institute of Mining and Metallurgy Co., Ltd. (CRIMM) is a Chinese state-owned research and development institute headquartered in Changsha, Hunan Province, at 966 Lushan South Road. Established in 1955, CRIMM became a wholly owned subsidiary of state mining conglomerate China Minmetals Corporation in 2009. The institute specializes in the comprehensive utilization of mineral resources, mineral processing and beneficiation, extractive metallurgy, new materials, intelligent mining, and environmental engineering, with applied research relevant to rare-earth and critical-minerals recovery and processing. CRIMM develops technologies spanning ore beneficiation, hydrometallurgy, solvent extraction, and new-energy materials, and supports China’s mining and metallurgy sectors with engineering and process design. The institute has unveiled breakthroughs in areas such as deep-water environmental dredging and advanced mineral-processing methods, reinforcing its role as a national research arm advancing China’s leadership across the rare-earth and critical-minerals value chain.
