About DEScycle
DEScycle is a privately held UK-based critical-minerals and rare-earth recycling technology company pioneering metal recovery using deep eutectic solvents (DES). Its proprietary process employs non-toxic, non-aqueous salts to extract metals from electronic waste, spent NdFeB magnets and other secondary feedstocks at low temperatures of roughly 50-80C, offering a sustainable alternative to energy-intensive pyrometallurgical and hydrometallurgical methods. The technology recovers precious and base metals such as gold, silver and copper as well as technology metals including gallium, germanium and rare-earth elements like neodymium and dysprosium. DEScycle has a demonstration facility at the Wilton Centre, Teesside, England, which the company said in June 2026 was nearing construction completion, and has secured more than EUR 10 million in public funding. Strategic interest from Mitsubishi and Cisco, which has trialed the technology, underscores DEScycle’s role as an emerging midstream player in distributed, low-carbon metals recovery.
