3 minute read.

Highlights

  • LNS Holding AS will invest up to NOK 10 million in two tranches over six months in Saga Rare Earths Holding AS.
  • LNS becomes a strategic mining-development partner, providing tunneling, site preparation, and underground-infrastructure expertise alongside a board seat.
  • Saga reports an Inferred 95 Mt at 1.28% TREO resource, but downstream separation and NdPr economics remain unproven at commercial scale.
  • Rare Earths Norway separately controls much of the Fen field with a substantially larger resource, distinct from Saga's specific holding.
  • Saga holds a separation-development LOI with Rare Earth Salts, but commercial viability has yet to be demonstrated.

Norwegian mining contractor LNS Holding AS (opens in a new tab) has agreed to invest up to NOK 10 million in two tranches over six months, subject to conditions, in Saga Rare Earths Holding AS (opens in a new tab) while becoming a strategic mining-development partner at Norway’s Fen rare earth project (opens in a new tab). LNS will provide mine development, tunneling, site preparation, and underground-infrastructure expertise and receives a board seat.

REEx Insight — The Money Is Small. The Industrial Signal Is Bigger

This is not project financing. NOK 10 million will not build a rare earth mine. What matters is who is writing the check—and what comes with it.

LNS is effectively placing operating expertise beside geological optionality. That can help Saga move from a resource story toward an executable underground-mine concept, while potentially strengthening permitting and future financing credibility. But investors should separate resource scale from economic viability. Saga reports an Inferred 95 Mt at 1.28% TREO, based on 10,447 meters of drilling, containing roughly 1.2 Mt TREO. Yet Fen’s broader scale should not be confused with Saga’s specific resource: Rare Earths Norway separately controls much of the field and reports a substantially larger resource.

From Rocks to Mine Engineering

LNS becomes a preferred industrial partner for construction, tunneling, and underground infrastructure, with future work contingent on permits and financing.

The missing piece remains downstream economics. Mining ore is only the opening move. Concentration, cracking, separation, recoveries, product qualification, and ultimately competitive NdPr economics determine whether Fen becomes European supply—or simply an enormous geological inventory. Saga has previously entered a separation-development LOI with Rare Earth Salts, but commercial-scale economics remain to be demonstrated.
