Apto’s relevance to the rare earth and critical minerals supply chain comes through its program to recover rare earth elements from retired technology assets. The company partnered with U.S.-based rare earth processor Tusaar to recover and reuse rare earth elements such as neodymium and dysprosium from shredded hard drives and end-of-life magnets processed at its facilities nationwide. Unlike conventional recycling that loses these materials, Apto’s domestic recovery program specifically targets rare earths to strengthen U.S. supply chains, advance the circular economy and reduce reliance on foreign sources of critical materials.
