About REEcycle
REEcycle, Inc. is a privately held American rare-earth recycling company based in Houston, Texas, focused on recovering rare-earth elements from end-of-life permanent magnets to strengthen U.S. supply-chain resilience. Spun out of research at the University of Houston in 2012, REEcycle has developed a patented chemical process that extracts neodymium and dysprosium from neodymium-iron-boron (NdFeB) magnets with recovery efficiency exceeding 99%, processing feedstock from MRI machines, electric-vehicle motors, wind-turbine generators, hard drives, and other electronic waste. Positioned in the midstream/downstream recycling segment of the supply chain, the company is recognized as a leading wind-turbine magnet recycler in the Western world. In 2025 REEcycle received a $5.1 million U.S. Department of Defense award to restart its demonstration facility and commission a commercial-scale plant, and it has attracted strategic investment from Reach Resources to advance domestic rare-earth recovery for defense and clean-energy applications.
