About Remedy Rare Earths
Remedy Rare Earths (Remedy Metals) is a privately held rare earth separation technology company based in Strasbourg, France, developing a sustainable alternative to conventional solvent extraction. The company’s proprietary water-based magneto-electrochemical process distinguishes rare earth elements by their magnetic properties, enabling targeted separation of the highest-value magnet elements neodymium, praseodymium, dysprosium and terbium in far fewer steps. Remedy claims its method is significantly more efficient than kerosene-based solvent extraction, with lower capital costs, reduced chemical consumption and a smaller environmental footprint. Spun out of research at the CNRS, Institut de Physique et Chimie des Materiaux de Strasbourg (IPCMS), the University of Strasbourg and Trinity College Dublin, the company targets three applications: recycling rare earths from end-of-life magnets in wind turbines, motors and electronic waste; recovering magnet production losses such as grinding sludge; and upgrading mining concentrate by removing non-economic lanthanum and cerium. It is led by CEO and principal inventor Dr. Peter Dunne.
