China’s Northern Rare Earth Group has once again asserted its dominance in the global rare earth industry, securing five prestigious awards at the 2024 Rare Earth Science and Technology Awards. Among them, the project “Key Technologies for Controlling Metallurgical Quality in High-Performance Rare-Earth-Containing Magnesium Alloys” took the top prize, underscoring China’s continued advancements in high-performance materials. Four other projects—ranging from reducing reliance on precious metals in rare-earth catalysts to high-purity cerium oxide production, wastewater resource recovery, and ultra-precise rare-earth detection methods—earned second-place awards.
The Rare Earth Science and Technology Awards, jointly organized by the China Rare Earth Society (opens in a new tab) and the China Rare Earth Industry Association, serve as a strategic tool to mobilize domestic scientific and technological talent, incentivize innovation, and drive China’s leadership in rare earth advancements.
