CMOC Group Limited (SSE: 603993; HKEX: 03993), formerly China Molybdenum Co., Ltd., is a diversified mining and metals conglomerate headquartered in Luanchuan, Henan Province, China. It ranks among the world’s largest producers of cobalt, molybdenum, tungsten, niobium and copper, with flagship operations including the Tenke Fungurume and Kisanfu copper-cobalt mines in the Democratic Republic of Congo, niobium and phosphate assets in Brazil, and molybdenum-tungsten operations in China. CMOC is the world’s largest cobalt producer, a critical input for batteries and defense applications, and also runs the IXM metals-trading business. Renamed from China Molybdenum in 2022, the company carries a market capitalization in the tens of billions of US dollars. A notable recent development is CMOC’s record 2024 earnings, with net income surging on sharply higher cobalt and copper output from its Congolese mines.
