About Indústrias Nucleares do Brasil
Industrias Nucleares do Brasil (INB) is a Brazilian state-owned company headquartered in Rio de Janeiro, linked to ENBPar and under the oversight of the Ministry of Mines and Energy. INB holds a legal monopoly over Brazil’s nuclear fuel cycle, conducting uranium prospecting, mining, beneficiation, conversion, enrichment and fuel-element fabrication for the country’s nuclear power reactors.
Historically, INB also held responsibility for the prospecting, mining and industrialization of monazite sands and the extraction of rare earth elements and thorium, operating heavy-mineral and monazite facilities including a plant at Sao Francisco de Itabapoana in Rio de Janeiro state. While its legacy monazite reserves have been largely exhausted, INB retains the regulatory mandate over monazite-associated rare earths and is positioned within Brazil’s renewed industrial policy aimed at developing a domestic rare earth supply chain for elements such as neodymium and praseodymium.
