About BYD
BYD Company Limited is a Chinese new-energy and technology conglomerate headquartered in Shenzhen, Guangdong, and dual-listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX: 1211) and Shenzhen Stock Exchange (SZSE: 002594). Founded in 1995, BYD is a major downstream consumer of rare-earth permanent magnets, which power the traction motors in its electric vehicles. The company became the world’s largest seller of battery-electric vehicles in 2025 after surpassing Tesla in electrified-vehicle sales, and it ceased internal-combustion vehicle production in 2022. Through its FinDreams Battery subsidiary, BYD is one of the world’s largest producers of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) Blade batteries. BYD’s vertically integrated operations span EVs, batteries, electronics, rail transit (SkyRail), and renewable-energy storage. Its scale makes neodymium, praseodymium, dysprosium, and terbium magnet demand central to its motor manufacturing and global EV expansion.
