About Metalysis
Metalysis is a UK-based advanced metals and metal-powder technology company based in Catcliffe, Rotherham, South Yorkshire, England. The company commercializes the FFC Cambridge process, a solid-state electrochemical method, branded the Metalysis-FFC process, that reduces metal oxides into metal and alloy powders in a single step using a molten calcium chloride electrolyte, bypassing the energy-intensive Kroll process. Metalysis produces titanium, tantalum, niobium, tungsten, vanadium, chromium, and other specialty metal powders, including titanium-tantalum alloys, suited to additive manufacturing and 3D printing. Privately held, Metalysis is owned by mining firm Power Resources Group (PRG), which acquired it out of administration in 2019 and operates tantalum and niobium mining in Rwanda. The company has secured European Space Agency funding to scale sustainable titanium production and build a secure Western supply chain. Metalysis sits in the downstream processing segment of the critical-metals value chain, converting oxide feedstocks into high-value powders for aerospace, defense, and advanced manufacturing.
