Cyclic Materials Opens 25,000-Tonne Rare Earth Magnet Recovery Facility in Arizona

Sep 9, 2026

3 minute read.

Highlights

  • Cyclic Materials has raised $237 million in total equity funding since its 2021 founding and opened a 25,000-tonne/year magnet recovery facility in Mesa, Arizona.
  • MagCycle technology mechanically liberates magnets from end-of-life products, while REEPure hydrometallurgy recovers high-purity NdPr, terbium, dysprosium and other rare earths at greater than 90% recovery rates.
  • Over 7,000 tonnes of material have already been delivered to the Mesa facility, marking a shift from pilot-scale demonstration to commercial operation.
  • A planned $82 million South Carolina campus targets 2,000–6,000 tonnes/year of magnet feedstock and ~600 tonnes/year of recycled mixed rare-earth oxide.
  • Large-scale integrated refining economics remain unproven; sustained throughput, product qualification and unit costs from the commercial Hub are the next critical milestones.
