ReElement Technologies Adds Seven Hires as Marion Refinery Moves Toward Four-Line Commissioning

Aug 24, 2026

2 minute read.

Highlights

  • ReElement Technologies hired seven professionals across operations, engineering, research, HR, and business development as Marion refinery scales up.
  • One commercial-scale germanium column was commissioned in August; the broader rare-earth platform across four Phase I lines is still coming online.
  • Phase I capacity could exceed 16,000 metric tons of annual separated-product output, with full deployment extending into Q1 2027.
  • ReElement is a minority spin-off of American Resources Corporation (NASDAQ: AREC), which retained 19% after an 81% spin-off in 2025.
  • Investors need sustained throughput, verified purity, and customer acceptance before chromatography can be declared a commercial rival to solvent extraction.

Factories are ultimately judged by what leaves the loading dock, not who joins the payroll. ReElement Technologies has added seven operations, engineering, research, HR, and business-development professionals as its Marion, Indiana, critical-minerals refinery advances toward four-line commercial operation. The hiring is credible evidence that ReElement is building an operating organization, and generally investors should separate organizational readiness from proven production. One commercial-scale germanium column has been commissioned; the broader rare-earth platform is still being brought online.

REEx Insight: The Next Proof Point Is Tonnes

The strategic opportunity is significant. Marion targets germanium, gallium, Nd/NdPr, and heavy rare earths including dysprosium and terbium—precisely the processing layer where Western supply chains remain vulnerable.

ReElement says Phase I's four lines could exceed 16,000 metric tons of annual separated-product capacity, with deployment extending into Q1 2027. But capacity is not production. Investors still need sustained throughput, recoveries, product purity, operating costs, qualified feedstock volumes, and customer acceptance before declaring chromatography a commercial challenger to conventional solvent extraction.

Marion Moves From Laboratory Story to Factory Test

The strongest evidence is tangible: ReElement commissioned its first commercial-scale germanium column in August, and Marion subsequently received the air permit covering all four planned Phase I lines.

The seven hires therefore matter less as a headline than as a signal of commissioning intensity. Experienced continuous-process and engineering personnel are exactly what a scaling plant needs.

One important correction: ReElement is a minority holding of American Resources Corporation (NASDAQ: AREC), following American Resources' 2025 spin-off of 81% of ReElement—not simply an operating subsidiary.

For REEx investors, the scoreboard now becomes brutally simple: feedstock in, specification-grade material out—repeatedly, economically, and at scale.
