About Tau-Ken Samruk
Tau-Ken Samruk is Kazakhstan’s national mining company, headquartered in Astana, established in 2009 and owned by the sovereign wealth fund Samruk-Kazyna. The company says it is focused on developing gold, copper and lead-zinc deposits and sees prospects in the development of the rare metals and rare earths sector. The U.S. State Department describes an agreement between U.S. firm Cove Capital and the Government of Kazakhstan to build a tungsten mining and processing plant; Tau-Ken Samruk’s role in that agreement has not been confirmed from an official source.
