About TDK
TDK Corporation is a Tokyo, Japan-based electronics and materials company and one of the world’s leading manufacturers of rare-earth permanent magnets, a critical downstream link in the clean-energy and electronics supply chain. Founded in 1935 to commercialize ferrite, TDK is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TYO: 6762). It produces sintered neodymium-iron-boron (NdFeB) magnets based on neodymium and praseodymium (NdPr), used in EV traction motors, wind-turbine generators, industrial servo motors, robotics and hard-disk drives, alongside high-volume ferrite magnets. TDK strengthened its NdFeB capability by acquiring Showa Denko’s magnet-alloy R&D business. The company reported group revenue of roughly 2.2 trillion yen for the fiscal year ended March 2025. In 2026, TDK disclosed it was affected by tightened Chinese rare-earth export controls and is actively pursuing alternative supply sources and reduced-rare-earth magnet designs.
