About Torngat Metals
Torngat Metals Ltd. is a privately held Canadian rare-earth mining developer advancing the Strange Lake heavy rare-earth project on the Quebec-Labrador border in northern Quebec (Nunavik). The deposit is notable globally for its high content of heavy rare-earth elements, particularly dysprosium and terbium, alongside light rare earths neodymium and praseodymium, all critical to permanent magnets used in electric vehicles, wind turbines and defence technologies. The project comprises a mine and concentration plant in Nunavik, a 180-km road to Voisey’s Bay in Labrador, and a planned roughly USD 800 million, 15,000-tonne-per-year rare-earth separation plant in Sept-Iles, Quebec. Strange Lake is projected to produce about 540 tonnes of dysprosium, 80 tonnes of terbium and 2,400 tonnes of neodymium-praseodymium annually, potentially making Torngat one of the world’s largest dysprosium suppliers. The company secured CAD 120 million in financing and targets feasibility completion in 2026 with commissioning around 2030.
