About Maaden (Saudi Arabian Mining Company)
Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Maaden) is a mining and metals company headquartered in Riyadh and listed on the Saudi Exchange (Tadawul: 1211). Its business units cover phosphate, aluminum, gold and growth metals, exploration and industrial minerals. In November 2025 Maaden signed a binding term sheet with MP Materials, backed by the U.S. Department of War, for a planned rare-earth refining and separation joint venture in Saudi Arabia that Maaden would operate, with Maaden to hold no less than 51% and the U.S. side a targeted 49%; final agreements are pending. MP says the plant is designed to process feedstock from Saudi Arabia and other regions into separated light and heavy rare-earth oxides.
In August 2026 Maaden and Aramco signed a shareholders’ agreement for an exploration joint venture, expected to be 51% owned by Maaden, whose targets include rare earth elements. It takes effect only once required approvals, including antitrust clearance, are obtained.
