About Vulcan Elements
Vulcan Elements is a privately held U.S. rare earth permanent-magnet manufacturer headquartered in Durham, North Carolina, producing sintered neodymium-iron-boron (NdFeB) magnets for defense and commercial applications. The company is building a domestic, vertically integrated magnet supply chain to reduce U.S. reliance on China for rare earth magnets used in motors, electric vehicles, robotics and weapons systems. In November 2025 Vulcan selected Benson, North Carolina, for a roughly US$1 billion magnet facility scaling to 10,000 metric tonnes of annual capacity. The same month it announced a US$1.4 billion partnership with the United States Government and ReElement Technologies, including a US$620 million Office of Strategic Capital loan and a US$50 million CHIPS Program letter of intent, having earlier raised US$65 million from investors including Altimeter Capital. Vulcan has also partnered with Ucore Rare Metals on feedstock supply.
