MCRE Resources Sdn Bhd mines rare earths from ion-adsorption clay in Perak, Malaysia, and gives its company address as Kuantan, Pahang. At its mine in Kenering, Hulu Perak, which covers 2,161 hectares, the company uses in-situ leaching with ammonium sulfate and says lanthanide carbonate is its final product. MCRE says it began mining in Perak in 2022 and that its first shipment of rare earth carbonate reached a port in China in February 2023.

MCRE lists a 2016 exploration partnership with China Nonferrous Metal (Guilin) Geological & Mining, a 2018 technical-assistance MOU with Chinalco GXNF Rare Earth Development, and a 2019 MOU between its predecessor, Tulus Mentari Holding, Menteri Besar Incorporated (Perak) and Chinalco. Southern Alliance Mining describes MCRE as its 40%-owned joint operation.
